Canary nuts

Canarys are mainly taken for their fruit. Walnuts contain seeds wrapped in a hard shell (endocarp) filled with "meat" which contains high fat and protein and is edible. The inside of this shell is often used as a substitute for tonsils (almonds) to decorate cakes.
